Chongwe Water Supply Improvement Project

Chongwe has been characterized with erratic water supply during the dry season due to drying of of the only source of water, the Chongwe river. This had made it very difficult for LWSC to provide reliable water supply in the area.

This outlook is soon going to change under the Chongwe Water Supply Improvement Project with funding from the government through the Ministry of Local government and housing.

This project will develop a well field in the Chalimbana area- southern part of Chongwe town as an alternative source of water to augment surface water supply from Chongwe River. This will help mitigate the challenge of inadequate water supply in Chongwe especially during the dry season.

The total cost of the project is estimated at K38 Million.
